1969 AMC AMX: AMXess -- BIG MUSCLE

When the American Motors Corporation (AMC) released the AMX back in 1969 the motoring world didn't know what to make of it. It had two seats like a sports car, a solid live axle and a raucous V8 like a muscle car, and styling that could've gone either way. Owner Jimi Day has been a long time fan of the AMX so when he got the opportunity to construct his own he pulled out all the stops, went buck-ass wild, and built what is arguably one of the best AMX's on the planet Earth.

The entry-level crossover is based on the MFA platform that was used for the A- and B-Class models. As a consequence, the engine lineup will likely include a 1.6-liter producing 156 HP (115 kW) and a 2.0-liter with 211 HP (155 kW). AMG might work on the GLA and install a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo engine generating about 335 HP (246 kW). In terms of styling, its design will be influenced by the A-Class that will lend its sweptback headlights, prominent front grille and tailgate mounted spoiler. Since this will be a crossover, the GLA will get an increased ride height.
